HONG KONG (AP) The United States has won the gold medal in Olympic equestrian team jumping in a jump-off with Canada, which took the silver, and Norway got the bronze bronze.
The U.S. got clear rounds Monday from their first three riders in the jump-off, while one Canadian rider knocked down a fence. Because Canada had only three riders to four for the United States, the Americans clinched the gold.
The U.S. also won team jumping in 2004 in Athens and had two returning combinations on the 2008 team, McLain Ward on Sapphire and Beezie Madden on Authentic.
Ian Millar, riding in his ninth Olympics, forced the jump-off with a clear round on In Style. The team silver was Millar's first Olympic medal.
